81 engine into 79 body

81 engine into 79 body

I want to put a 81 engine and trany into a 79 body and wiring harness. I have a few questions. Will the old 79 wiring harness work with the newer 81 engines emision wiring harness? The older 79 shifter seems to be closer to the dash than a newer 81-83 and the shifter and **** are different. Will the newer 81 tranny go in without any problems? If anyone can help me out thks in advance.
