Are 80 and 81 clutch slave cylinders interchangable?

My 1977 repu has a '80 rx7 transmission and today the slave cylinder took a dive on me. I was only able to find a 1981 slave locally but when I checked rock auto 1 of the slave cylinders have the same part # and some are different. Does anyone know for sure if a 81 slave will work before I go down there with my old one to compare?
