'79 starts but won't run long...

I have a '79 rx7 that starts when you pour gas in the carb and fuel flows all the way to the carb just fine, but once the fuel that was poured into the carb runs out the car cuts off. The jets didn't look clogged enough to cause it to not allow fuel to flow, what else would it be? float level? Some other internal blockage?

I'm soaking the carb in cleaner, and will try again tomorrow.

This is the only rx that I have that is stock. My '83 has weber carbs(dual 2bbl 36dcd's)and I have never had any problems making them work.
Thanks,
Jimmy

have you considered a carb switch just to find out if the carb is bad?

After more research I see that the 81+ carbs I have should work on the 79, we'll see...
