79 speedomter

i have a 79 rx7 and my speedometer gauge is jumping all over the place. what is it, since my mileage gauge is working

Try lubricating the speedo cable.

The age your vehicle is - I'd say it could be frayed and time for a new one if the lube doesn't work.
