79 inspection, emmission control

1979 RX7s use a thermal reactor only. My Question is will they pass inspection with a header, presilencer, and muffler.

My understanding is that 20 or 25 year old cars are exempt from emissions. Even with out that are you in an emissions county? In north carolina it really just depends on where you go to get it inspected if you don't have your car registered in an emissions county. I have a V8 rx7 that shouldn't be smog legal in a thrid world country yet I got a sticker for it due to not being in an emissions county.

State Laws

I would check the local rules for emissions some states will waiver your car if it fails simply because the parts to make it pass are not available anymore. Example if your thermo reactor breaks where are you going to buy a new one?? So if you prove it's not a availble part from the dealer or in aftermarket then the state will waive the testing for your car. I would call the testing place and ask.
