79 Hood Prop

Is this the normal location for the hood prop?

Yes, you seen to have an early model '79. The first run cars had the hood prop on the passenger side. Do you have a passenger side mirror, or just a driver's side?

I have both mirrors.

manafacture date on the door jam is 11/78.

I have an 85 hood I wanted to use to replace this one that is badly bent. But I do not want to remove the unique hood prop. I guess I will have to hope the hood can be straightened. Or maybe cut off the prop and weld it to the new hood.
