No you cannot use standard hose. You can usually purchase it at most Napa stores.

napa

I tried, napa, advanced auto parts, discount auto parts, etc... and none of them carry the 7/16 fuel injection hose. Since this will be on the low pressure side, for now, i'm using standard hose for the 7/16 line and HP hose for everthing else. This seems to work. It will have to do until i can find the correct hose. If i have to go to the dealer then i will but i hate going to the dealer and paying their prices.

If anybody knows of a place that has it let me know.

Thanks

If it's on the low pressure return side, then you should have no issue with std non-efi hose.

Don't use that hose for long, it will pop and dump fuel everywhere. I nearly lost an engine to fire once because I used that stuff (I was a dumb *** teenager). I ended up replacing the upper and lower intake, all vacuum lines and engine harness in my 87. That **** sucked!

He clearly said he's using it on the low pressure side of the circuit. Let's hope that's the case, as std fuel hose is rated to 50 psi, and is perfectly suited to those applications. Fuel injection-rated hose AND proper clamps should be used anywhere in the high pressure side of the circuit, from pump to regulator, even though the 50 psi rating might seem adequate.

I got mine off ebay... and double checked that it was indeed rated for EFI. Only ~$25 for a 25ft roll.

Low pressure, meaning the hose from the tank, going to the pump?
If thats the case, your fine since there is never any pressure before the pump.

If you mean the return line from the fuel rail to the tank,I wouldnt bank on that being "low pressure". Sure, some of the fuel will be gone, sent to the engine through the injectors, but the return line is still under pressure from the pump.

7/16"????...........Ive never seen any RX-7 that used that big of a fuel line.1st and 2nd gens(including TII's) all use 5/16" fuel lines. The 12A 1st gens have a smaller return line, but thats just because they only run 4-5psi of fuel pressure.Remember to measure the ID of the hose, not the OD.I get 5/16" ID EFI rated fuel line everywhere.......in bulk at Napa or precut blister packs at Kragen or Pepboys.

Pressure is caused by restriction to flow. In the case of the efi fuel system, the regulator acts as that restriction, controlling the pressure in the system between the pump and regulator. In the return section of the circuit, fuel pressure should be near zero, as only line resistance remains prior to the fuel dumping freely back into the tank. A kinked or otherwise blocked return line could increase that pressure, but would also cause over-fueling of the engine as the pre-regulator fuel pressure would rise also. This is why return-line sizing is so critical when increasing pump flow.

Steve,
The feed line from the Se tank is 7/16. It has 2 sections. 1 from the tank to the hardline. Then from the hardline to the pump.

Ah,.....larger on the draw side, then it drops to 5/16" on the pressure side....makes sense. The 2nd gens didnt have any of that big stuff, since there is no suction portion to an intank system.

Thats the bad thing to never having owned an SE......you dont always know all the tiny detail differences....Thanks.
