6mpg... What to do?

Im getting an average of 6 mpg.... Thats between spirited and normal driving (normal is shifter 3~5 and never loading the engine under 2K, crusing close to 2.5)

Here is a list of mods...

1. RB plug wires
2. Electric fans
3. Second gen alternator
4. Header
5. Has a rebuilt carb with mechanical secondaries
6. Holley regulator set around 3psi
7. Facet fuel pump- with new filters
8. no emmissions or crap on the carb

Only thing I can see to help is...

DLIDFIS (already mounted the third coil, gonna wire it in soon)

Fixing the vacume leak I have.

Cleaning and regapping the plugs, and if needed, replacing.... Where should they be gapped at?

seafoam/mmo/atf treatment (what ever I can get ahold of to bring up compression)

getting rid of the stock size exhaust after the header(has a HUGE leak, so its freakin LOUD, dunno how restrictive though) (no cats, stock piping and muffler)

And set the timing/carb- Where should the timing be set, and how do you set the split? How many times do I turn the mixture screw on the carb (after I fix the vacume leak?) Is in lean, and out rich?

Also, it spits and sputters when trying to cruise it, but if I make it accellerate its fine... How do I fix that?

Thanks, Laters, Andrew

The spits and sputters at constant speed probably has to do with the vacuum leak. Never gapped multi-ground plugs before, so I couldn't help you with that.

First off - I don't know how a 12A could possibly burn that much fuel - no wonder its sputtering, most likely choking on unburnt fuel.
All I will add is fix the vac leak now - why would you run your car knowing you have a vac leak - it's a sure fire way of shortening the life of a rotory.
Once that's fixed, it will most likely run ever worse, if at all - the vac leak was probably leaning it out somewhat and now you are going to be running mega rich.
So the next obvious step is to adjust your mixture and idle at the same time - as for the mixture, just adjust until your idle smooths out ( I would assume it will be as lumpy as hell after you find and fix the vac leak) - then move on to the idle adjsutments.
I'd pull the plugs after this is done - they wojld have to be as black as tar so clean them up or replace.
As for timing, I'd set it to stock and worry about advancing after you have your other problems fixed.
as for the carb, there are others on this board who know much more than I do but I would look for fuel leaks and make sure your secondaries are not stuck open - thats it for me, good luck (6 MPG, OMG!!!)
