^^^Agreed. And you could always put little venturis in the 48 and it'd behave like a 40 or 45, and still have the option for bigger venturis. My stockport 12a pulls MUCH harder with a 48 than with a 45. And a 6 port 13b sucks in tons more air than a stockport 12a.

With the dellorto's racigbeat used to mod specifically for 12a, they used 39mm venturis, which is big for a 12a. And they claimed same as stock fuel mileage. I haven't had my dell 48 for long, but so far it looks like I'm getting pretty great mileage even with those giant venturis, and I still have a monster top end. I do, admittedly, have to be careful when I put my foot down, if I floor it at too low rpm, bog city. But if I'm careful it's fine. The 45 didn't have that prob, I could floor it whenever. But with that bigger motor and working 6 port actuators, I think you'd be fine.

Oh and on another note, you can find 40 and 45 dcoes GALLORE on craigslist for dirt cheap. Like $150 constently, sometimes less. They are super easy to rebuild and the rebuild kit costs you about 20 dollars. http://www.allofcraigs.com/ it lets you search the whole of craigslist at once.

I think the 40 DCOE is too small. I have a 48 DHLA on my 4 port 13B and it would probably like something a little bigger!
