Try the European forum, they have some onfo on it. About all I know is the aux pots had butterflys instead of sleeves like the SE's and 2nd gens.

I think the butterflies apply to all their 6-port motors.

the motors are low on power, extremly small ports, but there is 6 of them, they do have good low end, but the top end is non-existant.. 9.4-1 compression, good gas mileage when your crusing around, thats about it.. what else did you want to know?

Thats kinda crazy. Can you port them out to make ok power? At least better then a normal USDA 12a? Might be worth it then if you can get good city and ok power.

Can I see some intake and exhaust shots? Or a shot of the intake and exhaust ports at the same time.

I want to see just how much difference there is between a 4 port 12A and 6 port.

I have never seen a 6 port 12A before. Were these the turbo fuel injected models, carbed or both?

that seems kinda lame that they wouldnt be bigger performers on the top ...

i have seen pictures of carburated ones as well as turbo i belive they had a efi systm ... the breather cover (i have one) is the same as the standard blue one that comes on all the 12a carb models . pretty much the dead givaway is the orange , i wish i had more pictures !!! but it took forever to find those .

ok ... digging around and i found that the 82 turbo version of the 12a made around 160 bhp @6000 rpm and 165 lb-ft of torque @ 4000 rpm .
>.< keep in mind that is not "poven" so dont quote me yet lol ,.
oh and they were NOT inercooled .

Ok so I took my 12A out of my '79 today to replace it with an '83 12A engine.

The intake ports looks like 2 on the outside housings, 2 in the center housing then the 2 exhaust ports.

Does this mean 6 port or what am I missing here?

thats a 4 port motor, you dont count the exhaust ports as intake ports, thats cheating..

Some one has to do it!

Ok I get it now I hope...

So thats what the extra 2 ports on the side housings are for? 4 ports on the side housings and 2 ports in the intermediate housing = 6 port

If you add the cheat ports that makes it an 8 port!

I have a 6 port 12a that I'm rebuilding. I'll have pictures on here soon so you can check them out. I have some pics of the intake manifold already but its covered in crud. Anyway I'll keep posting progress.
