5 Speed ID ?? What tranny did I have ?
Hoping somebody out there can tell me what tranny I had in the 7. I read through all my books and am very confused. Was the 12a tranny from 80 - 85 ribbed like the earlier models? I had my original replaced 2 years ago and the shop that did it told me they put in a rotary pickup tranny in it. This made sense to me at the time since it was ribbed. BUt those earlier years also had a removal bell housing, this did not. I put the trans from my SE into it and it bolted right in. So it had to be an 80 -85 that was in it instead of the pickup trans right ? The shifter location and everything were identical to the one we replaced. Any way I can run numbers to determine what I had in there ? Where ? Thanks

Pics? I thought the older trannys were rib case too, the rest were smooth case until the TII, which does have a removable bell housing. Doesn't the Mazdatrix web site have info on these, or is it just the flywheels and counter weights? The smooth case ones do have ribs, but if the older ones are like the TII's, then they would have cross ribs also.
I've been reading on the REPU forum and from what I gather, the shifter location for the truck tranny is the same as the SA's.
