NY 4 years of sitting and now back to life T2 GSL-SE**check out the pics** let me know

So my car sat up for along time about 4 years, i had some issues with it.. long story short the gas tank got water into it due to rust, and messed up the whole fuel set up.. so i upgraded .. and then had some financial probs and it sat some more.. so the last month i have been working it and i took some pics today and thought i would share. this is where she's at... let me know what you guys think..

Is that one of the old Miata headlight kits modified or a custom job? Car looks great!

lol. One thing I have deffinately learned with my car is no matter how many times I explain that my headlights are an old CP racing product that I would never buy again in a million years, people still keep asking about them...

Your car is looking great, would really like to see some engine bay pictures though. Is the TII that's swapped in mostly stock? Are you using a TII transmission? SE rear end?

ok i know alot of people want to know how the headlamps where done.. so here its goes ill try to describe step by step as best as i can..

1st step... obvious take out all the stock head components and assembly..

2nd step.. your gonna have to get abit creative at this part.. what i did was get card board and made a template of some kind.. using the cardboard and some masking tape basically made the housing for the light and measured and shaped it..and made holes for the fogs and mounted it together..btw the fogs can be bought at pepboys for about 30 or 40 bucks i dont remember off hand.

3rd step.. time for some trimming!! lol.. had to cut small section of the body where the stock headlights sit so the aftermarket fogs could fit..

4th step.. time for the actual fun and this is wear the patience is needed =) .. home depot sells sheet metal its very thin but durable.. it comes in a large sheet .. so if you mess up you have more lol.. what you're gonna do now is take the cardboard template and cut out a sheet metal one and basically bend it into the housing..there should be 1" lip around the whole top of the housing so you can mount the covers on the housing. use some flat headed screws to lock it all together.. and dont forget you need a hole saw to make the holes to mount the fogs..

5th step.. what i did to make the housing look good was i used carbon fiber sticker on the whole housing to give it a carbon look .. or you can just get any color vinyl to make it how you want it..

6th step... now what i did was take the stock headlight cover and trace it on to some lexan.. once again home depot.. and used a jig saw to cut to size..

7th step.. once the lens is cut out you have to paint it.. on the inside to hide the lip on where it mounts to.. so what you do is measure 1" out along the borders of the lexan cover that you have cut out and mask it to paint a nice border around the inside of the lens.. make sure its on the inside..

8th step and final step.. now that you a nicely painted lenses take some weather strip put it on the 1" lip that was made on the housing. this will help keep moisture out.. and once that is done put on the lexan by either some double sided velcro or what i used was some self tap screws..

if you have any questions feel free to ask

Very nice car, nice to see someone else using the flares, you even have same 2 tone paint scheme that I plan to do this summer but in different colors.
Share some engine pic's.
One of the best 1st Gens I've seen.
