can anyone tell me if the gears on a RX-3 SP tranny are similar to the 626? If the 626 are taller, I will make my junkyard round this weekend. I

I'd be impressed if someone took the time to change the 5th gear on an economy car. Don't know of any other gears that would swap into a 626 box. Mabye 323 or something?
Mabye u should just check the gear ratio to be sure.

Jack up rear. Put trans in 5th. Turn 19mm crank bolt by hand one full rotation. How many turns (or fraction of a turn in 5th gear instance) the driveshaft turns is your ratio.
The tranny came out of an old e/p race car. It's been opened up a couple times at least.... I had to take off the tail housing to put back on the speedo drive gear on the main output shaft... someone took it off, probably since it was'nt on the street. I can't wait until track day at the end of the month to test this baby out!

The 626 gears appear to be much taller than anything else made before or at the time.
