3 mm apexseals? Why?
I am about to rebuild my engine, and wondered what 3mm apex seals do and if they fit on a 79/80 12a? Are they worth the extra cash?? I might put a turbo or something on it would it hurt it? What is the life span???

I'd stay away from 3mm seals unless you plan on running some insane boost levels, its just a tuning safeguard. Your car will tend to crack endplates if it detonates with 3mm seals....

Just to verify, your 12A already runs 3mm apex seals so that's what you need to buy if you're replacing them as you should be. Is there anything specific you need to know? Have you though about porting at all?

If you are rebuilding it do a port job as well....
Take extra care when checking the parts insíde the engine.
You can't be to careful!
It's worth the extra time (and money if parts are worn out or soon to be).

I agree Magnus. Its a" while you were in there you may as well do this" thing.
Thats also can open up a can of worms. I mean that if you crack open you motor and notice excessive wear on the oil seals but, its not smoking. Do you A: fix it or B: let it go cause it wasn't causing a problem and you weren't there for that reason anyway. Just refer to the golden rule of engine stacking. See above....

porting?
Well I want my 79 to be ported but i have to keep it emmisions leagal but want the most powerband I can get out of it. I will probably use stock intke and carb (unless I run across a cookie jar filled with money AND has my name on it, but its very unlikly over here in the poor side of town ) . But the exaust is getting a 2 1/2 inch header and high flow cat and a high flow muffler. So i want to know the best way to port it and if I should use a street port or a big street port or someone have a custom port for the most power band. Any other modifications i can do using my friends machine shop that is also filled with air tools . Thanks again for all the help the more the marier Well laterz,
Andrew

If you're restricted to useing the stock carb and keeping it emmisions legal then you probably can't go further than a street-port. Since you have all the tools at your disposal all you need is some templates and maybe someone with a bit of porting experience can give you some tips.
