New-ish
Hi everybody, I'm Ben. I live in Maine. I'm a mechanic. I've been a member since '09 when I got my first FC ('87 blown up n/a 136k miles), but was just listening and finding information. I have a good friend who has been in the rotary scene for a while now and he convinced me that I should buy this car and I would love it. Turns out he was right. With much help from him we built a low budget street ported T2 with all used parts except the soft seals pretty much, used 2mm 2piece apexseals ,used solid corner seals, rtek 1.7, 550/750 injectors, stock s4 turbo @10psi, full T2 drivetrain swap as well. I have 15k ish miles on the engine and it runs pretty damn good. It's pretty fun on the street. Never been on the dyno.
Here is why I'm posting now, I just bought another one and it is going to be better. '87 T2 94k miles, almost no rust (I'm in Maine and salt kills cars so no rust is good and uncommon). the car came with almost everything except the engine, but it's in a lot of pieces. I'm stripping the car completely and having it painted.
I have almost everything I need to build a turbo bridgeport turbo block with S5 N/A rotors, just need seals. I have a "Good running 70k mile" '90 N/A engine that I need to take apart and inspect for wear, but assuming all is well with the housings and rotors I'll just need to get a turbo. I've been collecting parts, mostly the ones I don't need .
Anyone who wants to share knowledge with me please do, I've got a lot to learn yet. I want around 300whp daily... thinking RTEK 2.1 because it seems easy.
Sorry this is so long.

No need for bridge port for 300hp.. Most people will tell you that anyhow. Most people have also never owned or driven a bridged car. A stock port car with a hybrid is capable of 300. But a good turbo will do it more efficiently and reliably. But with all that being said, half bridge's are sweet. With a half bridge you won't have to run that hard to get to 300hp and there is alot more room to grow. I think this setup will be lots of fun and wicked cool. Oh and get enough post so that you can post but while on here don't listen to most of the D-bags, because there are lots of d-bags. Have fun and do lots and lots of donuts
