Hey guys i made a mockup of what my exhaust looks like..... i thought rx-7's had 3 cats.... mine only has 2 hence the picture...

is it possible someone before me modified the exhaust system....

i did notice 2 of the 3 bolts holding the muffler to the pipe were missing when i took the heat shield off....

81 - some 83's had 2 I thought, and only in certain areas... The earlier models also had 2 sets of exhaust pipes instead of 1 single pipe

my 83 S has a precat and main cat, while my LE has just a main cat. I forget what my 83 GS has. These cars are 20 years old or more, theres a good change that the exhaust has been changed at least once.

if its stock it breaks down like this:
70-80: thermal reactor
81-83: one pre cat, pellet style main cat
84-88: 2 pre cats, and one main cat
89-95: one pre cat one main
