2nd gen seats in a 1st gen?

do 2nd gen seats bolt right up into a 1st gen?

im wondering, since i just sold my 85 gsl seats to a forum member who wants to use them for his 86, and also, im thinking of getting a TII passenger seat, to go with my driver's side race seat.

from reading on previous threads, yes both the 1st gen and 2nd send are a direct bolt in.

yeah it bolts in. but you have to drill new holes for it to accomodate the seats.

My understanding is you just need to swap the rails onto your FC seats and all is good.

yes, just swap the rails from your 1st gen seats over to the FC seats and it will align right up. I didn't notice a lower seat height from my old FB seats, though.

Agreed.

I noticed slightly more head room with a helmet on using the TII seat on 1st gen rails. I highly recommend using 1st gen rails as they allow more backward movement than the TII rails and you'll need it to be comfortable.

the seats do bolt up with the FC rails. RHS seat fits perfect, LHS needs one hole redrilled in the rail.. its off by about half an inch. Piece of **** to do, dont have to put seats on old rails... go for the newer FC rails that feel smoother

If you use your first gen rails on second gen seats, it's bolt in. I can't see why you'd try to use the second gen rails (that require modification by enlarging/redrilling one hole) if the 1st gen ones work.
As for sitting lower: it depends on what seats you had before I think. Seats in S3 models and some S4 models (in europe that is) are the same, so you won't notice any difference.
It's been ages since I last sat in a stock first gen, as my car first had FC seats, and now has FD ones. So I don't really remember. Count to that the fact that my previous RX-7 was a European S3, and you'll notice I'm not to much help here
But yep, there bolt in.
