2nd gen fuse block install Q

I finally got around to installing one I bought months ago, and I'm not sure of something. I need to connect a wire from the battery to one side of the fuse block and a wire from the alt to the other side, right? But does it matter which side? I took some caps off each side of the middle of the block. One side has two bolts; the other side has one bolt. Female connectors are all on one side. IIRC, the female connectors are all on the side iwith one bolt under the cap.
