20w-50 is good stuff
20w-50 is good stuff
i got bored today so went and bought some 20w-50 an MMO and gave my 7 and oil change. i have never used oil this heavy before (the 7 is my first car). so afterwards i still had nothing to do so i took her for a spin to see if i could notice i difference. it was NICE, the oil temp hardly jumped around at all compared to the previous 10w-30 or 10w-40 i cant remember which. once it gets up to operating temperature it takes a lot more to get it to heat up. now i know its cuts power by a tiny fraction but its not that big a deal. since i usually drive hard i will be using the 20w-50 from now on in the summer. in the near future i plan on installing an OMP adapter and having a container for 2 stroke for the omp to run off of and then i will use the synthetic 20w 50. i recommend 20w-50 for anyone who lives in fairly warm weather and drives their 7 fast, which i hope you do on a regular basis. speed deprivation is not good for them
Me, I prefer a straight grade, but is hard to find, so for my 7 it's 20-50. In just about all of my cars from the past
i always have used a thicker oil. It doesn't get beat up as fast and if the engine has some miles on the clock it takes up all of those clearances caused by wear (cold starts)

If you think the 20w50 is good, you've gotta try the MMO by itself. It's so minty and goes down smooth...
I almost prefer it's taste to antifreeze, unless it's a good vintage antifreeze...
I dribble a little MMO in my carpets when the car smells bad. The ladies like it.

Just kidding RMD.
wouldn't 20W-50 produce higher engine oil temps because its thinker and therefore has a hight heat capacity. I found mine was running hotter from the switch from 10w-30 to 20w-50.
