20Btt int a 1983 GSL?
Im picking up a project RX-7 and am thinking of throwing a 20Btt into it. I looked in the archives, but found nothing. Can any on you help? What kind of problems am I going to run into? And will the tranny that comes w/ that engine fit straight into my car?

Just so you know, the 20B only came with an automatic,so if you wanna keep the stock ECU and run a 5-speed(TII trans works well) your going to have to run a standalone or learn to crack the stock ECU so itll run right with a manual trans.Im going for the latter, but Im also alotting a couple years to get the project done.
Its not a small undertaking to say the least. The 20B is equal to a small V-8 in power and torque,so be prepared to upgrade a LOT of your car to take the power. Its not like dropping in a 13B or 13BT,which are still a little soft down low, and bolt in as easily as a 12A.
The 20B is a big, pricey, technical project so be prepared to spend and learn if you decide to take it on.

I would say if you are doing it yourself and you want a good job with like rebuilt motor all the suspension to hold up to the abuse and all that good stuff you will need beetween 20-30 gran just a basll park figure the reason why it so far apart it just becouse it depends of what you want it to do rebuilt drop in it will be about 20 rebuilt single turbo around 850-900whp ye you beter beready to lay down 30K+.

you know, i'm kinda sick of people talking about 20b this and 20b that, the truth is, it's a project that most of us don't have the resources or knowledge to do (usually one or the other)... i don't know, just had to vent...

True, but its not out of reach, especially if youve succesfully done a TII transplant.(not paid someone else to do it)
The 20B has a lot in common with the TII and that can help those familiar with the 13BT.But most people dont realize the sheer complexity of the ECU wiring and the twin turbo system.Add to that the A/T and the fact that all 20B related manuals are in Japanese, and youve got a struggle on your hands.
Now on the other hand, if you can get away with a standalone ECU, the 20B becomes a very doable project so long as money is availible.
