20B in a 85 GSL?

I'm curious to see if anyone has installed a 20B-REW into a first gen RX-7... I would think SOMEONE has, but I'll be damned if I can find any leads.

I have a line on the motor, through a friend of mine in Osaka... I assume it will require a huge fabrication, but I'm up to the task.

Any info on this being attempted before? I tried using the search but couldn't come up with anything...

Thanks in advance!

Mariah Motorsports has installed a 20b into an FC. Perhaps not the exact answer to your question, but does offer alot of inforation.

I have seen pics once, but no idea where/what/how.
I guess the installation of the 20B into a FB will be rather simular to that of the Mariah FC. Only thing really different will be the engine mount. That'll take some fabrication.

yes it's been done, with a surprizing amount of extra room. I have pictures of the engine bay somewhere. The rad was moved abit forward I believe.

a LIL bit? LOL Maybe like 8-10 inches LOL A 20b is way longer than a 13b

Back on topic tho, the basic block from a comso with all the stuff on it, wont get you running, its gonna take a LOT MORE CASH to get it in there and running.

I thought the PP 3-rotor race enigne was a 13G...

And as far as cost, expect to spend 6x the cost of the block to get it in the car, running (ie $12000-$18000) and thats if you don't get too wild

Very true. Mine will probably cost 6x the 20B itself. Well, maybe not if I'm careful.

20B + peripheral port = a peripheral ported 20B. A 13G is an older racing three rotor engine based on 13B rotors.

Still arent the rotors the same in the 13b and the 20b? I was under the impression they were.

Yeah, I thought the same thing.

He doesn't know what he's talking about obviously, especially since all the labor will be done by my friend and I.

After motor etc costs, I can't see it going over $4000 max.

lol Unless you're planning on running it n/a and slapping some carbies on it you're dreaming.

You're going to have to completely redo your cooling system, upgrade the oil-cooling, you can't run the Cosmo ECU without major headaches so you need an aftermarket computer capable of running a 20B, new fuel system which means fuel pumps, surge tank, regulator and bigger lines, exhaust system, new clutch, gearbox, tailshaft and diff to handle the power and then all the little bit and pieces you'll need to get it running.

Why even start with a 12A car anyway? Find a blown up GSL-SE. It would make things a lot easier, and will probably save you money in the long run, unless you're trying to build a racecar.

It's not a 20B. Look at his website. It's a custom 3 rotor.

If it's a custom 3-rotor utilizing 13b rotors and housings, it's a 20b.
