1st part of engine failure
1st part of engine failure
well it finally got warm enough here to go out and play with my car a bit after it litterally blew up in my driveway a week ago. I pulled out the plugs and they were all horribly fouled however on the rear rotor had this thick black sludge all over them, it wasnt metallic, I figured it was carbon but ive never seen it that way before. Anyway a cranking puff test showed the rear rotor is running on 2 faces (or was, it wont start now) which means the apex seals are still in tact, I spose maybe I lost a side seal? I found it highly unlikley that a side seal would blow and not an apex seal so I almost hydro locked the engine with mmo, what you guyz think?
its more likely that the seal spring failed.
and yes, it will happen to the side seals too.
everyone breaks apex seals from detonation, but the seal springs can wear out on side or apex seals and then no more compression.

Dont give up just yet. Get some powerfoam and try that first, it may still be ok. Could be just carbon buildup. Thats probably the sludge your seeing from the MMO. Its worth a shot. Good luck.
powerfoam
I cant get it here, or at least I dont think I can, I went to napa, pepboys, advanced, and autozone and none of them had it, the closest thing they had was Seafoam, that pretty much was spose to do the same thing but doesnt work hardly and its not by aimsoil, any idea where I can get some of it?
