I saw one at the junkyard. I don't know, I kind of like the way my car looks without it.

Hey Matt, search around, you'll find one eventually. Took me awhile to get my IMSA spoiler and Air dam but I got them. I'm sure the Targa band can't be that hard to find. Try titling your thread "Anyone got a Targa band" or something like that. That's how I got my airdam. Try it maybe you'll get what you're looking for. Later

i donot know about you guys, but i would like to see a real targa top on our car. rig it up somehow so that the run roof latch was attched to it so that you could take both of them off and have a nice open top.

I have one on may car... IT took a LONG time to find one tho. My best advice is just to keep looking on e-bay and the parts trader. You'll find a deal on one sooner or later.

As for that brand new one on e-bay, is anyone here bidding on it? I wanna pick it up for my other 7, but don't want to bid against you guys...

Well thats just it, I am going to buy a 1st gen that was in an accident, the front end damage was fixed, but the battery broke free and both terminals touched the hood, in short shorting out the entire car, so the guy said. But the car has the targa band and I am hoping
the rest of the ISMA package. I figure it will be worth the $75 bucks for the car. Matt22

a vert 1st gen is cool, but i would much rather keep roof lines of the first gen, and go targa..

any idea how expensive that would be to do

Jim, I respect you, so don;t take this the wrong way... but you're out to lunch my friend.
The Targa Band looks awsome. It's no more rice than a factory spoiler, rims, or airdam...

I agree with Jim. The factory targa band is making the car look like it has something it doesn't. the definition of "rice" has been gone over numerous times on this site. I believe the consensus has been that rice is makeing your car look like it has something it doesn't i.e. stickers, fake intercoolers, other crap like that. Thus, since the rx7 doesn't have a targa top, a piece that makes it look like it does is rice. That REAL targa top in that one pic is the coolest thing to ever be on this earth . I WANT ONE. it's soooo cool.

Oh, plus the factory spoiler and air dam actually serve a purpose at high speeds. Many people who have them seem to agree that the car seems much moe planted with the spoiler and air dam equipped. Oh yea, smnc, if you like the targa band than that's cool. you are entitled to like whatever you like. Plus it is a factory Mazda part so it's not like your putting a big ricer wing on the back or anything but I still think it's rice. later

Yes, the air dam and spoiler have been proven in wind tunnel testing. There is no advantage to having the targa band performance wise. In fact, it adds wieght, puts holes in your car, and created wind drag.

And yes, I am still out to lunch.

hey lighten up! whats the advantage of a set of $2000+
wheels? or leather *** sliding seats-TII's, i don't think we have any amish(god bless them) RX7 owners on this forum. a little style goes a long way in the drabness of these concrete jungles. 'cuse me but love em or park em!

They go great with sake and soy sauce. If they are bigger than 18" diameter, or require welding goggles to look at, they are rice too. Of course this only qualifies if they provide no performance advantage. If you are just putting $2000 wheels on to look good in the concrete jungle, you are not only ricey, but a fool too.

or leather *** sliding seats-TII's,
Seats must be made of something. Just because you don't like leather doesn't mean someone else doesn't, or that their reasons are not performance oriented.

i don't think we have any amish(god bless them) RX7 owners on this forum.
And that would be relative to rice or performance how exactly?

a little style goes a long way in the drabness of these concrete jungles.
Nothing against style, but completely useless anything on a car is rice. I admit to having a bit of rice in my blood too (white gauge faces, leather shift and e-brake boots, painted break calipers, etc.), but NEVER at the expense of performance. You want bling-bling wheels, get a Honda, and please don't embarrass the rest of us.

'cuse me but love em or park em!
Whatever. I just call it like I see it. The targa band may be a stock option, and may look cool (to some), but it is rice, any way you fry it.

I gave mine away for free. Well, I guess I got a leather wrapped steering wheel for free after I gave him the targa band...

I think all of our cars have rice on them. If they didn't we would all have one seat, a steering wheel, pedals and a tach and that's it. If you like the targa band that's cool. You'll never see one on my car though......
