Out of pure laziness, I drove my WRX in the snow last year on rally tires. It was bordering on scary at times. They are very unpredictable. You're better off on a summer-use only tire. And that was with AWD, not RWD.

On the street, they're fine. As long as it is dry, you'll get good enough traction, and the pavement, while it will wear them down, will also sharpen up the edges on the grooves, making them grab better next time you hit the dirt.
