1st Gen Engine Bay

I asked these questions in a different place here on the board and think I asked it in the wrong place. So I thought I'd go to the 1st gen experts and try again.

How long is the engine compartment?
How wide is the engine compartment at the top of the strut towers?
How tall is the engine compartment from the engine cross member to the hood line?

Thanks!

Take these measurements with a grain of salt.

1) 28.5" to the back of the rad.
2) 35" ish
3) 23.5" to the top of the fan shroud

Just used a tape measure real quick on my 84 gsl. Hope it helps a bit.

I also take it that you are planning a "different" engine swap.

No. Not part of roclife.org. I've seen stickers on cars and bikes I think.

I won't lie to anyone. I am thinking about it. I know lots of guys don't like it, so I didn't want to stir up trouble and kept my question general. I am a V8 guy and I am not a road racer type. I like drag racing. A first gen + a 302 Ford = easy go fast.

There are a lot of 1st gen cars in my area and most of them are not running or don't even have an engine in them.

Don't hate me because I may save a chassis. I do like rotary engines from an engineering standpoint.

No worries, we'll just hate you for being a Ford guy.....Just kidding. I hope you know that all the flaming about engine swaps is just good old fashioned fun. Plenty here have done the swap, so there are people who can help give some advice.

If you are willing to put up with a little childish behavior - you can get some good info about your project. Good luck with it and don't be embarrased, you'll just have to talk smack about the Chevy guys instead.....

Ford small block swap is quite possibly one of the easiest "swaps" out there. Hundreds of them have been done. Buy a complete bolt-in kit and go fast!
