Question 1st gen distributor question.

I'm currently running a 1st gen dist. in my 2nd gen. I just noticed teh shaft wobbles quite a bit and has broken my rotor. Are there any rebuild kits out there? Or is there better model dist I can use and rebuild that? Need help sooooon!!! Need it going by this weekend!

You'll need to determine if it's the upper shaft, or lower shaft (I don;t know what else to call them). The top one fits over the bottom one like a sleeve and rotates with the mechanical advance as RPM rises. There is a screw burried under some grease that needs to be tight. Check this screw first before damning the entire unit. I had one like this that wobled and cut into a couple of the Trailing contacts on the cap. Now it's tight and wobble free and is the heart of my 0/180spark 20B dizzy mod.

Thumbs up

Jeff, I just decovered the REPU forum last night. Found a thread where you go indepth on an ignition setup. I'll try checking that screw and I'll do some searches on some more of your threads. Seems you know your stuff. Thanks!
Before all this happened, when I went to time the motor the timing would climb to 20 deg while building rpms and right at about 5-6k it would jump back to 15 deg. Could this be the symtom of my wobbly shaft or is there anything else internally that could cause this?
