I don't know for sure, you want to use the fuel rail or just the PD?
the PD's might be the same, but the rails are differnet.
you might get it to work (change the outlet)
Mazdatrix shows a diffrent one for 86-88 and 89-91 and none for the GSL-SE
but the 86-88 looks VERY similar to the GSL-SE one.

Yep, the 86-88 are dif. than the 1989-91. The 86-88 are nice machined aluminum - better quality than the later ones. How did your pulsation dampner fail? I removed mine from my old 88 and taped/installed a brass fitting in it's place. All they do is sit around waiting to cause engine fires out of that stooopid little screw hole in the back.

They are different. I do not know if the fuel rails can be modified to fit an 85. They all have four injectors, so that is irrelevant.
Your best bet is to either buy a new PD for the 85, or replace it with a banjo bolt. I have the same problem, I own an 85 and an 86. The 86 is leaking currently, I don't know about the 85. I am going to use the banjo bolt trick on the 86. I believe the bolt is a 12mm x 1.25 size.
hope this helps,

what i think your not remembering about us having 4 injectors, is that there is a secon fuel rail for the other two injectors.

the primary rails and ijector locations are the same i think.

Only if the injectors are sitting in the wrong place or if the rail bolts in a different place, will it not work.

The primary fuel rail on all of our cars fires injec tors in the same location right?
I mean a 13B block a 13B block, right?!

Yea, basically a 13B is a 13B. But, the fuel rails are different! Even from a 89+ to a 86-88 they are different. The question is how much modification will it take to make one fit from an 89+ to a GSL-SE? Currently, I don't have the answer. Eventually, I imagine I will because I have all three of those year cars. Plus my 86 is leaking right now. But I am going to do the banjo bolt thing.

The problem, I believe is not the location of the injectors (I am fairly sure they are all the same) but the way the rails are mounted on the block.

thats not it either.
they have the same bolt pattern.
the rail WILL work, if you install a aftermarket pressure regulator on the return line.

RIGHT?

Actually the 89-91 ones are superior. They are integral and do not fail nearly as often as the others.

I'm pretty sure as long as it is an NA fuel rail that it will work.
