MN 1988 13B in a 1985 RX7

Hi i have a guy locally selling a 1988 13b and transmission with 85k miles that he just took out of a FC. He is willing to go down to around $600. I was wondering if this motor will be a good swap? Or is it the same doing a GSLSE swap?

Similar to doing a GSL-SE swap. A little more power, and better aftermarket support. I did a TII swap into my 84 and I'm planning on accomplishing another one here in the next few months.

Alright so it sounds like this will be a good upgrade or will modifing the 12a be more effective. Because the money that goes into swapping a 13b would be used to modify the car as is with no engine mods. Let me know I have many Rotary resources in my area too.

Step 3.

I opted to use the RX8 S1 6-speed manual transmission. No problem lining up the shifter in the stock location in my SA .. however the RX8 tranny required a custom mounting bracket and a custom drive shaft.

For a budget swap, I think you can use the stock SA 5-speed manual transmission and maintain the stock transmission mounting bracket and drive shaft. You may have to use the bell housing from the RX8.

I was wondering for the drive belts, can you use the RX-8 auto tensioner for the drive belts or is the tensioner mounting different?
