1985 RX7 automatic transmission

I'm told by my mechanic that automatic transmission included with the first gen RX7 had many problems over time, more problems than manual transmissions.

So what were / are the issues or main points to watch out for when purchasing an rx7 with an automaticn transmission? Anything in particular?

Thanks!

M.

My 84 gsl auto is pretty cool..........it has 150k on it and was told its still the org.........Tri Point says they are built to last.....on hard driving it is sluggish......I cant get it to go over 6000 rpms before it shifts.......but for traffic it rocks...I got over 30 mpg going from arizona to so cal
Next week I will have the car looked at by another rx7 guy......will give you an update..........
