Ok so i have a se with small mods and 2gen intake manifolds. can was hesitating alot and i pretty muh narrowed it down to a bad air flow meter. i purchased one from a guy local and i go to put it on. at the same time i pulled the distributor to checked the timing and put it back in. i think i may have forgotten to get it back top dead center before hand and when it started it ran like **** and it cut off. since then i have put on a new distributor cap and rotor. re timed everything. car does not sound like it even wants to start now. figured it is to cold to try and get an accurate compression test. it is getting spark. ( held a plug against the tower. and i pulled the upper manifold off and the injectors out and they are both firing. why is this thing not starting? car had good compression before this, so i dont see how i can just knock all of the seals and have no compression because of this! Any thoughts?
Is this with or without the new MAF? Did it run at all with the old one? You could try swapping that back on and go from there. It seems like you did too many things at once. Why did you pull the distributor out to check the timing? I would be re-visiting the distributor installation again too...
In short, double check everything even though you probably already did, haha.

yea i did. i hanked it backed out and double checked the timing. i pull the distributor out because i thought i might have had a bad ignitor. i pulled the plugs out and they where covered with gas so im sure thats the issue. even with my fuel cut off i couldnt get it to start. so i pulled the plugs and turned it over a few. may even do a little atf and see what it does today
It sounds like you know you're getting fuel, so that shouldn't be an issue. If you know you are getting spark at all four plugs, then you can eliminate the ignitors. Since the plugs were covered in gas I would recommend cleaning, or changing, them. Then, pull the fuse for the fuel pump and turn it over a few times while you have the bottom two plugs out. This will remove any excess gas, and give you a chance to listen to the compression. Listen carefully for three solid pushes from each rotor. If you have that, then you have compression.
Now I would start looking at the timing. How did you set TDC? The best way I have found is by removing the inspection place on the passenger side rear of the motor. This allows you to see the flywheel. You can use this t0 precisely find TDC. Spin the motor until the flat side of the back of the flywheel it parallel with the flat side of the motor, then check your timing marks on your front pulley and stab in your dizzy. Fire it up and then set the timing with a timing light.
I hope this helps.
