Question 1984 GSL-SE Value?

I’m not sure what to ask for it, I paid $800 for it this spring, added a radiator, tires, and a plethora of other parts… Figure I have about $1,200 to $1,300 in it. And ran almost an entire season of ER and Solo II with her, put about 1300 miles on it since I got it.

The car needs, a catalytic converter (to pass emissions down here), new springs, and shocks, ball joints and tie rods, I haven’t touched the brakes they work good but the pads are thin. The Clutch is thin, and could used replaced. The body is OK, no rust, but it has been in a wreck or two in her lifetime. The old 13B in her runs pretty darn good.

What do you guys think is a realistic asking price for my 1984 GSL-SE?

You selling it??? Going to get a new project, or just taking a break from it?

Guess I won't be seeing you in CS next summer... (or whatever class it is now)

Thanks I appreciate that!

There is some sadness associated with this passing of the guard; I had big plans for the POS Racer. But I started to be concerned about the amount of cash that I was going to need to spend to make it a decent performing car for Solo II and ER.

Then, I saw the add in the paper for a Black 92 Miata, and figured I’d just go take a look at it, didn’t really figure I’d buy it. The nice lady (original owner) told me the price, and I replied would you take $****, and she said yes. And as they say on TV, “The Rest is History”.

Back to my initial question what do ya’ll think is a fair price for the POS Racer?

Have also been thinking about donating it to a charity, for a nice tax deduction next year. Has anyone ever done that?

If you do that you get the full blue book value of it. That'd probably be better than selling it for $1500 (what I'd ask for it). I sold my $800 -SE for $1400 without doing anything but a rear wheel bearing.

Only problem with this is there is no way writing 1500.00 off of your taxes will get you much in your pocket. Even if you figure a net profit of 300.00 (1500-1200=300) you won't get 300.00 cash in your hand from the tax write off. Better off selling it.
