Hi Everyone! I have a question concerning my stock Clarion stereo. After only being able to hear my stereo thru 2 of the 4 speakers. Front right and back right, I took it to a car stereo shop. They suggested it was probably the radioitself that was malfunctioning.I swapped a few speakers around to discount them as suspect. Music is heard only in the right side of the vehicle. Anyways, they suggested upgrading toa"2004" stereo unit but I prefer all original parts when I can get them.

I have a replacement 84/GSL Clarion unit coming and my question is HOW DIFFICULT IS IT TO REPLACE THESE STOCK UNITS? Can anyone give me some detail as to the steps involved? The face plate of the replacement Clarion is a little beat, so I WOULD LIKE TO SWAP MY FACE PLATE ONTO THE REPLACEMENT UNIT.
How difficult is this do do?

sounds like you have a bad amp. I have 2 spare amps if you would like to buy one. The amps are behind the storage bins.

you need to take the boot off around the shifter, it pops off. then there are 2 philips screws you need to take out toward the front. remove the ac and temp control *****, there is a nut that you need to take off behind the rotary *****. then pull the dash off. there is going to be the illumination wires hooked to the dash twiste em off then the basket that holds the stereo should come out after remving 4 screws on the side.

 

I have the whole stereo system out of my 85 GSL-SE I can sell you.

just be careful you dont crack your plastic moldings...they crack very easily. I have two spare amps as well, if you would like them!
