1984 carburetor Fuel Problem
Need Help, my 1984 carbureted GSL will only start if I pour a small amount of fuel into the carburetor. once it starts it will run fine , until it is shut off and then I have to start it again with fuel poured into the carb. I don't want to just start replacing parts hoping to find the right one, hope someone can help me , thanks Rainy

I had this problem.. first check the float sight glass if there is even fuel in the carb at all.. if not.. check that there is fuel is getting to the carb.. take the fuel lines, put them into a bucket or something and it should pour in when the key is in the on position, if not, try cranking it.. if theres no fuel.. and you have fuel in the tank.. either the pump or filter is bad.. most likely the filter. (which was my case).. I replaced the filter and I was good to go! If you can hear the pump.. but no fuel is getting to the carb, it must be the filter.. or a clogged fuel line, less likely i'm sure..
Hope this helps.. its just my experience

Airflow is my life
That wont work on an 84-85. The pump doesnt run continuously with the ign key on. The "computer" must see that the engine is running before it will run. It will run while the engine is actually cranking.
Are you using the choke to start it?
