1983 seat upholstery, floor cover and mats

I am in process of having my 1983 rx7 restored.

Anyone know where I can buy a complete kit to redo my seats and floor coverings and floor mats

They are brown in color. The car is gold.

Steve

Wow. I just tried to use the black dragon website. I tried for 15 minutes and all I got was dead links and problems. Does anyone have another suggestion for where I could get seat covers or door trims for a 79' RX7?
Thanks

Thanks

You could take them to a custom automotive upholstery shop and have them do it for you. It'll cost you but chances are it will be very good quality. Blackdragon should have the carpet and other plastic parts you will need. If the site will work of course. Also any NOS parts store should be able to order your carpet for you. I don't remember the name but theres only one company I have seen that makes molded carpets for our cars.

Glen,

Blackdragon is usually REALLY good with their website. I'm not sure why the catalog is down. I have been trying to check stuff on their website for the past couple of days, and haven't had any luck. If I were you I would just call them and see if they will send you a hard copy of their catalog. They send me one every month in the mail, so I'm sure they would be more than happy to send one your way if you wanted.

Good luck,
Jamie

Cheers

try www.automotiveinteriors.com for the carpet. I used theirs and it fit perfectly.
For seats and other vinyl/leather products try www.trimcar.com. I bought the plush vinyl seat covers and ordered extra vinyl for the headliner and door panels etc. Way cheaper than a having a shop do it for you. I used graphite carpet and a beige/cream leather for the interior. Looks pretty good with the red exterior of my '80.

FL interior work

when you get a seat upholstery kit for your car, i would suggest you consider taking your seats and covers to a auto upholstery shop, to have them built. to install the covers correctly, you need to know some small tricks of the trade, to achieve a nice fit. additionally, these seats are from the early eights, lets face it, they will need to be "rebuilt", to feel like new seats, other wise, you could end up a seat that looks odd... or loose. I've been building seats for 10 years now, and i put work into seats before the new upholstery goes on, every time.
on another note, i was considering to start making interior parts for the fb cars, to sell, what would you pay to order a new set of door panels for your car, reusing your armrest and accessories?
would you consider paying a little more if you got a product to last 5 times longer?(the best materials money can buy)
as a consumer, in this particular market, i am curious to hear what you have to say

i can also get carpet and mates for your car, i maybe able to beat anybodies price (maybe), let me know if you still need them

Hey Steve Just a heads up, shipping from the U.S. to Canada is very expensive (sometimes more than the value of the parts) so I would suggest finding a US address to ship to and driving down to pick up the items (I'm not sure how far Winipeg is from the border)

Has anyone here ever seen and felt the low back seat upholstery kits from both blackdragon and racingbeat? I'm curious if the more expensive and less customizable blackdragon kits are more durable. What about other companies?

I'm leaning toward the racingbeat kit for my '83 as it comes with installation tools and can be customized.

Also, what are the chances of finding a blueprint of the RX-7 floor mat shape? For what they are, the prices are crazy high for something the remnant carpet shop will make for me for half the price if I can get a template.
