They don't handle very well though...
The US-build convertible first gens lacked a lot of strength. They were re-inforced rather poorly (sort of U-shaped brace) making them twist and bend when cornering hard. Overhere in Europe they are completely illegal. We had our own verts though. Build by Lehmann, for Kuwe, in Germany. The reinforcement was way better (the car became 80kg heavier then a stock one) and handling is not affected. A German friend of mine has bought the original designs of this vert, and was building one for himself. Due to newer laws he had to strenghten the design even more. Unfortuneatly it seems to become an endless project, due to health reasons.
