1982 GSL resto project... interior

Howdy,

In continuing with my 82 project... do we have any experienced interior people amongst us? I'm lucky enough to have a mother who can professionally reupholster the sunfaded seats and door panels.

The rear wheel well covers were also sunfaded, and after thorougly cleaning them with mild detergents and alcohol to remove residual oils, I tried black plastic paint to no avail. It peeled off far too easily but has just enough "stick" to be abnoxious to completely remove. It has been suggested to just cover the wheel wells with carpeting to match the rear carpet flap that covers the tail light area and scissor jack. The armrests are also badly sunfaded, and after the results with plastic paint and vinyl dye, I'm almost positive I will have poor luck in trying to convert these parts to black. The dash is also in pretty bad shape with a poorly-installed dash cover glued on. I'm clueless as to how I can make these parts look clean and professional again.

What carpet set is the best to buy? The one from VB doesn't look bad, but I've also seen a less expensive one from JC Whitney.

Thanks again,

Eoin
