1982 Factory Service Manual

My daughter and I just bought a pair of 1982's. Both were purchased from original owners. One is in very good shape, it just needs some minor work like door seal replacement. The other is in excellent shape, no work required (not yet anyway).

Both came with Haynes manuals. I would like to get a pdf of the Mazda factory service manual. I have found and downloaded parts manuals, a carburetor manual, and a wiring diagram; but so far no '82 factory service manual.

Anyone have one to share?

For the most part the 84/85 manual should do you fine.

look in trochoids sig line for the link. you may have to copy and paste it. He has them all. In the pdfs the pics suck and the explanations i dont find to helpful but its nice to have.

Just use the search funtion for "trochoid" and that should give you his profile or some of his posts with the link

^ That one has the same '85 FSM that's floating around, and it's the same link as Sgt Fox's.

85 should do you fine, the only thing I can think of that's REALLY 1982 specific is the oil cooler/radiator (which Haynes covers) and ECU connections

82 and 85 were very different in terms of wiring, heating, fuel tank, oil cooler, radiator, transmision ratios, and many other small differences. an 85 manual would suffice for some things but the proper 82 manual would be the best option.

Thanks for the help. I see the link for rx7.foxed.ca. I'll go get the '85 manual. I can't see any links in the sigs yet. There's a little tag line that says: "To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater.". Kinda strange.

Okay, I kinda take back what I said.

After having been able to flip through an actual 82 FSM, there is a lot more '82 specific information, especially concerning the carb. The pictures are a lot clearer (helpful with transmission & carb service), I've got an '84 FSM and it looks like Mazda decided to use a Xerox to reprint the rebuild procedures.

Where the 85 FSM is better is there's an illustration of the drum brake assembly, much better than black/white photos, and in the beginning of every chapter is a list of what each component does. There's also a diagram of what each connection on the ECU goes to, you'd have to download the '82 Wiring Diagram for that.

I did a quick search and you can find used '82 FSMs for $40-50 on eBay.
