1980 Rx 7

Hi. Went looking at a RX 7 today, could be my first. Im a noob so forgive me. Its a 1980 Mazda RX 7 no turbo. It has a 12A. 58 000 miles garge kept. Some of the body panels have been replaced. No rust. Passes air cair. Guy says it runs good but u never know right, New electric fan. Its a California car. Leather seats good tires. Stock but fairly mint. Didnt have a chance to hear the motor but looked really clean. $2800 Canadian. All around good shape. Im sorry i dont have pics i wish i did but judging by this which i no is not anywhere near indepth enough, is it a good deal.

80 CA cars had EGR valves and since its a 79-80 its got the thermal reactor exhaust system and the older body style.
None of that is of any consequence since you can change over almost anything on the car with parts from 81-85 cars,if you so desire.
Sounds like a well kept car, especially based on the extremely low milage.Original owner?

If it looks like the mileage "says" it should, $2800 (IMHO) is a steal. My nice 80 San Diego - bought RX7 with 64K miles cost me $4100 (US!!) and was worth every penny to me. Worth dropping $120 at a mazda dealer to get the engine compression verified as good and have a look at the under-belly on a rack. As long as the engine is up to snuff and there are no serious rust issues (it will have SOME rust, they all do....) then you are a lucky guy. Is it a 5 speed with sunroof? Post pics!
Attached is a couple of shots of mine - might help as a guide of quality??
regards and welcome

Hey, you live in Canada right? So, the only question that really matters is "how much rust". If there really is no rust (take a really good look underneath) then its pretty much worth anything. I live in Michigan, so I know what its like.

An '80 with leather seats sounds like the "Leather Sport" edition, which IIRC also has very rare gold-centered waffle wheels.
