Hi-
Far as I know all year LSDs will fit, though using a GSL-SE rear could require some mods. By "fit", I mean the WHOLE axle assy. I don't think you can just swap pumpkins. Besides, with the whole axle you'll get the cool-looking, but not-as-good-to-stop (so say contemporary road tests!) rear discs, too. I think you need the 81+ brake hose back there, too. Buy a new one, or get an SS braided one for near the same price. And I understand there are some tricks with the hand brake cables, but nothing serious- I had a shop swap mine into my 80, so the details of the install are better left to others-

Hi-again! There is another thread about rear diff swaps here, look it up. I forgot to mention that I believe the 83+ rear ends use a different drive shaft, which you might need if your donor car is of those years. Worth confirming...

81-83 GSL but its best to get a 3rd member from a GSL with auto tranny. its less abused.

Why don't you want to swap the entire rear end?

It's not hard. Probably easier and you can upgrade to rear disc brakes too!
