1980 cluster 3 questions in one.
i have 3 questions.
my temp gauge is broke does not work ect if i get anew cluster it should fix this right.
how can i test if its the gauge or the wire is bad. i know the sender is good.
2nd question
my speed-o is 5 mph to fast what is the easy fix or should i just live with it.
i look on this site for info about custom clusters ect more of the threads the pic didnt show up ect, does any one make one , i got confused when reading about putting different year clusters in my car which ones will work i have a 1980 sa.
and doc i thought ur post was pretty funny , the one when u said insteed of a buzzer the car should say wounder how long ill be in the impound yard ect.

Easiest solution is swap out the WHOLE cluster - preferably with a 79 - gives you the 120MPH speed instead of lame 85MPH version. 79 is only cluster that will directly bolt in w/o mods. 81 + cluster requires some pretty extensive rewiring, tho I know folks have done it here. Instruments are usually pretty reliable from my experience so I'm guessing your wire harness might be at fault if you have eliminated the sensor as the problem?
Ebay sells 79 clusters regularly for around $25 - and if you need to swap pieces between the 2, its is a no-brainer to pull the clusters apart and swap components - very simple design (clever Japs!!)
Should be something in the Archive about swapping clusters - if not PM me and I can fill you in-
