It's worth what you paid for it. Having said that, it's only worth what someone will pay. We generally shy away from these non-technical questions in this forum as to not turn it into a selling forum.

Agree with KC, but I will say it helps to become somewhat knowledgeable about what you are selling. There was no 79 model that included a leather interior. The first one's were the 1980 LS (Leather Sport) models. No matter what year or version of Rx-7 you have, it's actual value will be highly dependent on it's milage, it's condition, both cosmetically and mechanically and originality.

To me, $12,500 for a 1st gen that has some paint and tuning issues is overly optimistic at this point in time.

For sure man I recently got it and can’t find much info so I was just curious how others felt ya know. But idk pretty sure it’s a 79 and it has not leather bat a more vynil style interior and everything is still original. More or less just wanting opinions on if the car is as rare as I thought it was or if it’s just a cool lil car.

Sounds like a normal 1979. When I say normal, I'm saying vinyl seats. The other options would be a S model and a GS model. S had no sunroof, two spoke steering wheel, and 4 speed trans. The GS had a 4 spoke steering wheel, 5 speed trans, and an optional sunroof. Both versions also had the option of dealer installed AC. For the 1979, AC was never installed at the factory. You could also get a passenger side mirror as an option.

For the 1979, being the first year of production, the earlier the VIN the better. The early version had cloth seats and a passenger side dash speaker, evident by the holes in the dash.

It's just a carb. The factory service manual here has the tuning details. Foxed.ca
