15x7 rim offset question?

I searched for this question in the archive but found nothing- does anyone know the correct offset for a 7 inch wide rim in a 79 RX7 (4x110 bolt pattern)? I believe this is the same for all 12a RX7s from '79 to '85- I just want to have the right specs before I start looking for rims- thanks!

+20 for non gsl-se

+35 for gsl-se

that is close to the factory.....not guaranteed

i run +7 rims on my gsl 15x7, and they stick out flush with the fenders...as in the tire is flush with the outer part of the fender

it all depends what you want.....you can probably go from +40 all the way to +7, or even more, but you will need to roll the fender lips, or even go all out and go fender flares/widebody

i run the same as above. 15x7 with a +7 offset. 205/50 in front and they dont rub with eibach springs and rolled fenders. and 225/50/15's in the rear. with rolled fenders they still rubb in the back over big bumps!!!

stock offset

I believe the waffle wheels are marked 25. I think this means 25 mm. offset, Would 15x7 wheels with 25 mm offset and 225/50-15 tires clear both fender lip and strut on a 1979 SA?

its actually 22mm offset for non se cars i work for a wheel company and i ran 16x7.0 with 205 40 16 awsome fitment, everything sat flush with everything but i suppose that a 20mm offset would work too....

I think the offset changes with the cange of rim width- check out this website:

http://www.wheelsmaster.com/rt_specs.jsp

unfortunately they dont have RX7s in their list

offset is the distance measured from the exact center of the rim to the mounting point.. negative offset is deepdish rims like on drag cars and BMWs and those.. like rims with a lip... positive is like most FWD cars .. offset is totally seperate from rim width.. you can pretty much have any offset as long as you can clear it either way.. too far positive could rub struts too far negative would rub fenders.. and it also changes your scrub radius. which is what your tire contact patch is..

Thanks AcidAngel7477 - so its more like 22mm & not 7mm- I am looking at these rims from American Racing (see photo) but they ask for all the specs before quoting a price- I hope its not alot
