I have these panasports that are mounted to slicks. I need a street tire thats compatable with the 13x8" rim. Help me get this car on the street!!!!

 

215/50/13 should fit not too badly...

Check Tirerack.com, they have Sumitomo HTR 200's. They're a decent tire, particularly for the price. If I were you I'd get some Yokohama A032R in the 'hard' compound. They've got deep enough grooves to work very well in rain and they're hard enough that they'll last a good long while on the street. My buddy has driven whole summers on his because he didn't want to change tires between events and those were the soft compound.

I have the same problem. I bought a set of Revolution wheels a couple of years ago, I think they are 13x8. The came with a worn set of Hoosier Autocross tires, 225/45/D13. I have searched and the only tires in that size are autocross ones, which I don't want. Even on a lowered car, the wheels look too small with the short sidewalls. Look more like wheels for a skateboard.

If I ever get around to restoring the other GSL I would like to put these wheels on it, otherwise I will start looking for a set of drag slicks for the widebody.

 

WOW! and thats funny B/C on my other first gen I have 235/50/13"AMERICAN RACER's" on stock four spokes, and they're right in line w/ the rear quarter....Do you think those will fit on 8 " rim?

 

yes, they'll fit fine.

 

sumitomos are about 50 buks a pop and the yakohamas are 110 a pop. Not a hard choice for me. I don't plan on doing extream driveing, I went with the less expensive of the 2.

 

im not sure id go wider than 205's on these cars without some fender mofication, but goddamn do wider wheels make them look kickass!

as for the other pics, putting huge tires on a 5.5" rim can cause serious bubbling problems, you are actually better off with a skinnier tire to keep stability in corners. wider isnt always better when you are rocking stock rims.. hehe

 

True enough. My autocross tires are 185/60/13 which is a good compromise for the narrow stock 5.5 inch rims while still giving me a shortish sidewall. The gain in gearing is also a bonus.

On the street, the Sumitomo 195/60/13's seem to fit the stock rims well and look quite well proportioned. 205's are a bit too wide but look good in the rear.

 

Actually the AMERRICAN RACERS are like 135 a pop. and they look like the MT sportsmans or what ever theyre called. Thanks fellas.-Erik

 

If any of you guys want to get rid of your 13x8s, let me know, I want wider autox wheels (yes, i know about diamonds, and that's what it may come down to...
