Looks nice. The 11-sec claim seems a bit optimistic -- ask to see some time slips. Bring a printout of the eBay listing with you so you can refer to it as you check the car over. I've had luck lowering the price significantly when things in the listing weren't true.

There could be many things wrong with the car. Bring a compression tester and possibly a battery. If it is something easy for you to fix you would want the car prommised to you before the price gets raised because you got it running. May just need new plugs and to have the startup mixture trimmed down. My Microtech fouled my Cosmo engine out to the point that it couldn't start. If the motor has not been apart yet you will probably want to open it up for a rebuild and at least to change the restrictive exhaust sleeves.

???

Good Luck.

Thats some damn good thinking, cheers for that. I've got him down to 4k via email so at the price im on the keen side..

I'm thinking with 11second claims im sure he has thrashed it to hell so could be problems that only a rebuild will fix... Mazfix at Brisbane www.mazfix.com do a full rebuild for 2600 and I've heard good things so I am preped for the worse...

To fill you in I asked him where the work was done and what probablem solving if any he had done.. He replied with below.. The tone kind of points to something more serious.. Damn hope it is what your saying 13bt_rx3

Nick from Nerang rotary built the cosmo engine and installed gearbox, rx4 bellhousing and installed turbo ,progate wastegate etc. and chris from Quickmaz installed computer, handset, custom made exhaust, tailshaft and did fuel system (surge tank etc.)And finally Mazfix dynotuned car. As to answer your other question I have spent over 15 grand on car and after engine went it has been sitting in storage untouched since (6 months) as with having my own business i dont have any spare time .hopes this helps .thanks glen

Not sure of all tests you could do.

Best if you could look at the turbine wheel.

Minimum would be to remove the airfilter and check for smooth free spin and fell amount of shaft play. Push pull for thrust bearing/collar check.

So I went and looked at the car unfortunately I didn't have a compression tester but here is the long and the short of it.

I bought a battery put it in and it had an electrical problem.. When accessories wherre on the cd player worked by the microtec had no reading (the bloke said that he cant remeber but the cat might need to be running to get the display). When I tried to turn it over made a tick noise and nothing(bloke was like he hadnt seen this problem before).. Anyways to test the compression I turned the pulley on the front of the engine.. Turned pretty easy some may say effortless so without being a mechanic im thinking problems... He has put new spark plugs in but yeah that didnt fix his problem.. Checked the tubo the shaft had no play so that was a good thing..

I offered him 3k pretty much sure the engine was the problem he said he has had an offer for 3.6k but he will give me until tomorrow to think about it..

So im thinking about any advice.

yeah if there's no resistance to turning by hand sounds like engine is shot both rotors.

He said he took off then it sounded and drove like a tractor and has not moved since.

Damn I wish it could be different..

is this something a standard rebuild would fix e.g http://www.mazfix.com.au/engines/rebuildengines.html

or could I be up for additional costs?

Thanks for all the advice on this been damn handy

A rebuild would fix it, as long as the rotors/housings/plates aren't screwed up.
Those things are very expensive.

The car is still worth it though. I personally would buy it, rebuild the engine, and put the whole thing in a series 3

I agree with Directfreak. Even if the engine is toast it would still be worth the $4k. Especially if it's 4k AUS $$.

Did you ask specifics? I am always anoyed when people make general claims. It's a golden rule to get specific when trying to sell a car. Especially when it's a custom turbo rotary setup... Phrases like "$1300 new suspension" and "heavy duty clutch" don't go very far.
