Well I thought I'd give my old polisher a try on my 85 SE with 20 year old paint on it. First I went over the hood with mothers caly. Then, I did a 1500 wet sand, then a 2000 wet stand (panel in front of the radiator got a 600 wet sand). Then I hit it with the polisher. After the first buff she's looking pretty good, still got to get rid of some swirls, do a final polish and glaze though. Man oh man, 4 hours and all I got done so far was the hood, but the results are coming along. Will update further as well. Can't wait to see how she turns out in the sun.

ooooooooooooooo shiny. Your gonna have to take some good pics out in the sunlight without so many reflections, but I guess the reflections are a good sign. Nice work
well, it could be black. i'm looking through pictures and it looks like a charcoal grey to me. there was a black in 85 called sparkling black metallic. you'd have to look at the color code on the vin plate located on the firewall to be sure.
