13b/weber in 1st gen, major problems!!! Help!
Ok guys, i've got an '83 GS that I dropped a Racing Beat 13b in, w/ full RB streetported exhaust and a 48mm Weber with an '87 lower and the RB upper intake. My problems are this; to make it work w/ the 1st gen distributor, i needed a GSL-SE E-shaft pulley. Well, I sent it off to Racing Beat w/ the carb and when it came back, i think they slapped the wrong pulley on it; when i set the timing to '85 GSLSE spec, it won't run!! I slotted the dist. adjustment and advanced the crap out of it, and it barely runs. Acts like the timing marks on the pulley are off, hence the suspicion of the wrong pulley. Also, the 48's are being an A$$pain to get dialed in; the carbs don't want to run w/out bog unless you pull the bell shaped jet cover off of the top and even then she bogs badly. One more thing, by playing with the pulley pos. when i drop the dist. in, i can get the timing almost right, but at that point, i begin to hear some high end knock(?) from the motor(sounds like from the midplate area). Anybody have any suggestions for any of these problems? The car ran super strong one day and then began to act up. That one day was enough to convince me to stomach all this other headache. ANY help would be appreciated.

See, that's the thing; to make it work, i was told i would need an earlier front cover and an '85 GSLSE e-shaft pulley for the correct timing 13b timing marks (BTW the motor was ordered from RB as an '88 13 non-turbo). I'm thinking that i ended up with an '88 pulley and therefore wrong timing marks.
