13b/SE non start

Been through the archive on no -start situations and still can't figure this one out. Sounds like a classic flooded engine but having no luck at unflooding it. Bought this 84 SE (125kmiles) that was running up until not too long ago (So said the seller). How can I tell if this engine is toast. Help!
heres what I've got so far:

Checked air flow meter ok
Fuel pump working ok
Got spark at plugs ok
Got fuel to the fuel rail ok
Done the unflood procedure several times now - no luck

Symptoms:

Seller said the car ran "hot" was running hot everytime he drove it before it.
He replaced the thermostat. didn't fix hot condition.
Said he replaced water pump (but doesn't appear to have)
changed the fan clutch
Started it up one day to work on something, shut it off and wouldn't start again. He then:
had the injectors sent out and cleaned ok
Reinstalled the injectors and still nothing.
Sending unit off of the radiator is disconnected.

Pukes a lot of oil out via a leak in the pan gasket or something underneath (haven't had it up on a hoist yet).
Having to add oil all th etime when tryingto start it so the pan is full.

once you over heat these cars you burn up the seals around the engine and they usually start leaking everywere, it also fry's the apex seals. I only know through exsperience. I did all that you talked about above as well and it ended up being a cloged radiator. I had to repalce the motor.

Thanks for the info.

Would the engine still run even after it had been fried and then all of a sudden just not start one day? That seems to be what was going on befroe I took delivery. He was working on itwhile trying to fix the various overheat problems, then bammo - no start one morning.
