13B-RESI to 12a to TII

ok, so i just bought a 85 gsl-se and someone has swaped in the 12a carburated, it runs like poo so far, but i havent really looked into it.

the whole wiring harness is still there.

so how big of a job is it to swap it to a TII?

is it just remove old motor, install new motor, hook up harness, and replace stock ecu with TII ecu?

or do i have to swap the harness?

also, is there a chance that the origional tranny is still the one in the car? will i need the tranny from a turbo II?

Thanks for all your help,
- Bochek

Welcome to the Darkside.

There are writeups and threads thruout the forum and archives on TII swaps, you just need to look for them. The FAQs are a good source of general info too.

You got the right idea, but I wouldn't say it is very easy. I am finishing up a TII swap in my 85 GSL-SE that I started in December. You can use your stock trans, but the TII is recommended. If you use the TII trans, you'll have to fab the mounts. Here is short list of things you'll definently need:
TII Engine
TII ECU
TII wiring harness
TII AFM
255lph electric fuel pump
GSL-SE front cover tapped for an oil return
Custom exhaust
Many hours of labor and love

...This is all could think up real quickly. If you have any questions, you can PM me.

Your asking THE most asked question on the forum.
Please search, its been covered over and over again.......

Once you have all the info needed, then ask specific questions.
The SE is the best platform to begin with since its factory EFI ready. But there are still plenty of mods youll have to do, in order to correctly and safely install the TII engine. Most of the technical stuff involves the fuel delivery and wiring systems....
