Wouldn't beat the Fc oilpan... The point is: it's really different, and the FC pan has the holes for the bottom engine mount. I heard of using the S4 pan in a 1st gen, but can't think how. Since GSL-SE pans aren't that expensive, I'd get one... If you're on a thight budget, you should try to find a decent donor and stay as close to stock as possible. Nevertheless, just keep in mind: any project of this type will cost more then you calculated... I bought a complete FC for 375euro, and will be able to sell some stuff from it, so the basic block will have been cheap... But then there's the rebuild: rotorhousings are expensive, seals are aswell... All together, using FC ecu would still mean $2500-3000 for the swap, and I am doing most stuff myself. If you port the 13B, no matter which style, you'll need a seal-kit, and then you'll probable see that it'd be stupid to but the old apex seals in, as they won't last that much longer anyway, so you change those too, and then the next thing... Don't want to put you off or anything, but just think about this.

i just didnt know if the oil pan was just slightly larger in one spot or something that was an easy fix. i understand what you are saying about the seal kit, and it has made me think, that i should invest in one as part of the project. but also understand.. this project doenst have to be done in a month. i still need to locate a motor. do some more research ect ect.. im still in the planning stages, and hoping this is as possible as it sounds, and from what ive looked into, it doesnt seem that bad as long as i can locate a motor complete with flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, intake, ect.. i think its possible, just might take a little bit of time. and the port job is a definate if i already have the motor out, that way i dont have to pull it again just to do some porting.. put it back together, and drop it back in.

my project's only bump right now is the wireing... i need to figure out how to bridge the 89 engine harness over to the 85 body harness.... it can be done, I've seen it done but I need an 85 wireing diagram as I only have the 89 one.

Does anybody have (or could scan) the parts of the wireing diagram from the 85 that I would need?
