13b Purge Valve

More questions from me guys. PO removed all the emissions items and what I noticed was the oil filler neck vent hose was not attached to anything. Looking at the FSM, there appears to be a purge valve connected to the bottom of it, top goes to metered air, and then it looks like the other bottom hose goes to manifold vacuum. I don't have this purge valve, can I use a generic one from the parts store, are they even available?

Right now, there is a hose on the filler neck that's just open. Both manifold vacuum and metered air hoses are capped and car idles good, although high at 1500 rpms. What I have read is about lung butter and I would like to avoid it. Tia.

If you put a small breather filter on the top barb, and a hose from the bottom barb to the air filter youll be ok. Unless you have a coolant seal breach you should never see white goo with this setup. If you do want to get the PCV you can easily find them about on the forum or ebay. FYI 2nd gen RX-7 has the same part.

12a may be different as I only have one nipple on the filler neck. Thanks, noticed the pcv valve is the same up to 92 models.

The second isnt on the neck, but rather below on the intermediate iron. The same as your 13b.

ahhh, okay, i see what you mean now. there was a hose on the intermediate iron that i did not see which is also open. so that hose to vacuum and put a breather on the nipple on the oil filler. thanks ncross.

i looked at the FSM a little closer...so stock configuration would be from the nipple on the iron to the one of the lower nipples on the purge valve, the other lower nipple to manifold vacuum, and the upper nipple to metered air. then the oil filler neck nipple to charcoal canister.

Right. As long as you have a source of intake to pull positive pressure from the crank case and the little filter your good. Id leave the line going to the gas tank that the PCV (or charcoal canister, I forget) was connected to open.
